Inside the Mind of a First Overall Pick Irving Fryar.

"You were the first overall pick. A lot of people don't recognize that we have a first overall pick, one of the only wide receivers in the draft era to be drafted number one overall. Did you get to go on those luscious visits where they fly you in on their plane? No, things were different back then, Big Dog. You know they were. They didn't do those types of things anymore. To this day, I really don't understand how that took place, you know, how I was selected. No, really, because I was a wingback, man. I was a wingback at a university that ran the ball, and most of the time I blocked. I averaged touching the ball not catching passes, but touching the ball. I averaged touching the ball four times a game, and a lot of the time, I did have a high percentage when it came to touching the ball and how many times I scored when I touched the ball, how many times I got positive yardage."

Legendary Wide Receiver Irving Fryar: The Untold Draft Story! #a2dradio

A2D Radio April 19, 2024 2:26 pm

Hollis Thomas and Irving Fryar believe that with all of the rule changes being implemented, the NFL is heading towards flag football or rough touch football

"That's true. Well, what's going to happen is the regular-season games are going to resemble what the Pro Bowl looks like. Yeah, and you know what the funny thing is? There's a flag zone. We also discussed this with pops too. It's like we've talked about; they're going to have to start watching the UFL because UFL seems to have gotten things right. They have an official up in the booth watching the game play by play. So when it calls into question, he buzzes down to let them know just to get it right. It's like, and I know the fans know this too, but the fans wait all year long and they don't want any damn official to decide the game. And it's just like the players; we work out and diet the entire offseason to come out there, and sometimes our season gets messed up by one or two calls."

The NFL is heading towards flag football: FACTS

A2D Radio March 29, 2024 12:11 pm

Reddick is entering the final season of his three-year, $45 million contract signed in March 2022. He is owed $14.25 million in base salary with a $21.8 million cap hit.

"If you're outperforming it or you have bonuses and different things in there to try to, you know, make some of that money up for big years when the money's not equal in it. But with guys like James Bradberry and other guys who had downright awful years last year and disappeared, like, yeah, sure. Let them give money back. And then we can go give it, give it this on record because we can't pay everybody right now. And at the end of the day, he signed the contract three years ago. It's not like he signed it seven years ago and you're just like, 'Hey, I've outperformed this whole thing. It's time for a new deal.' You just signed it. So, don't sign it then. Right? Cause nobody else was going to give you more. And I don't think that's the only reason that trade hasn't been made yet because I don't think anybody else is willing to give them that type of money."
